Accessibility & Innovation Challenges
The A&I Initiative will be launching and tracking a series of accessibility challenges for industry, the developer community, and students
to invent new applications and provide information on accessible products and best practices.
Over time, we see the Initiative's various challenges and activities evolving into a "problems-solving commons" where individuals and groups openly colloborate to identify needs and define more tractable solutions. We are currently researching online platforms that would provide not just collaboration but excellent accessible collaboration. In fact, that's kind of our first challenge: finding the best way tools to collaborate online with strong accessibility. What is your vision of how cloud computing can create new opportunities for people with disabilities? Create a multimedia presentation that shows what could be possible using the computing and communication power now available via the Internet. This challenge is available at www.challenge.gov.
This challenge is open to everyone – you do not need to be a technologist to submit an entry. In fact, we encourage persons with disabilities, organizations, advocates, trade associations, industry, filmmakers, students and others (and any combination of the above) to submit an entry.
